BridgeWay COVID-19 Assistance Fund

BridgeWay North American School is a bilingual school that is effectively meeting a unique need for high-level academic, value-based education in Mexico City. Beginning with a biblically-based moral framework, the international nature of the school encourages a spirit of cooperation and an appreciation for diversity by developing an awareness of and respect for people of other cultures. Since its founding in 2017, the school has grown to 75 students in grades PreK-5 who are thriving in this caring school community. However, the COVID-19 social distancing and regulations put in place by the Mexican government have recently had a significant impact on the school.

Director Kevin Van Rensburg explains:

We had been able to transition to online classes when our physical school was closed in March, though the impact on our school finances have been significant. Due to loss of income, we have had a number of families request scholarships for the remainder of the year. To help alleviate the financial burden on our families, we have given a 10% reduction in tuition from April to July to all students in addition to these scholarships to families most impacted. This effort to continue educating our students during the COVID -19 crises has resulted in a $7,500 revenue shortfall.

Additionally, our teachers are using their own computers to provide online education and not all teachers have computers adequate for that purpose. Brenda Ruiz, who teaches 13 children in Grade 3, was trying to lead online education on her old smartphone, while the parents of her students are desperate for educational support. We have five Mexican teachers just like Brenda that need computers to teach their students online during this government lockdown. Without these laptops, parents may enroll their children elsewhere and this new ray of hope for the gospel in Mexico City may be in jeopardy.

Here is a summary of our immediate needs:

Five Laptops: 5 x $500 = $2,500
Revenue Shortfall: 75 x $100 = $7,500

A donation of $500 today will ensure a teacher will have a new laptop and begin online education within one week. A gift to help meet the revenue shortfall will ensure the ongoing effective and unique ministry of Bridgeway in the lives of local and expatriate families in Mexico City affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Thank you for your gift!
