Ukarumpa International School
Ukarumpa International School (UIS) is located in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea on the center of operations for the Summer Institute of Linguistics in PNG (SIL-PNG). SIL began work in PNG in 1956 and a primary school was opened. Ukarumpa High School (UHS) was established in 1962. In 1996, UHS and Aiyura Primary School combined under the name Ukarumpa International School.
UIS serves children in pre-K through Grade 12 and is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Though the school primarily supports missionary children, we also have some national and other expatriate children. The school has approximately 200-250 students from more than fifteen different nations. Curriculum is primarily, but not exclusively, North American and all instruction is in English.
