Our Need

As ECA continues to grow in number, we pray and hope it can continue to grow in infrastructure. We hope to be able to include more classrooms in order to be able to serve more families and students.

From additional offices, to a storage space, and special meeting spots, we hope to grow and provide our students, staff, and visitors the best experience possible through our infrastructure, but most importantly, through Jesus Christ.

Right now, our primary focus is to be able to raise the money for the Annex building (Phase 1) as soon as possible due to the fact that we have a building license currently valid.

Even so, we’re certain of God’s faithfulness and trust He will provide in time for ECA’s growth project.

Our Story

El Camino Academy (ECA) was founded in 1980 by a group of North American missionary parents who desired a U.S.-based curriculum for their children’s education, allowing for easier transition upon return to the States. Its motto is “Training for Life,” based on Deuteronomy 6:5-7. Providing an education based on biblical values at a moderate cost was also important.

ECA had 25 students and 3 teachers its first year, with children in 1st – 7th grades. Classes were held in a church in the San Nicolás neighborhood in northern Bogotá. The school later moved into one rented house, and then two houses, and finally three houses in the Pontevedra neighborhood. The school gradually grew to 75 students in kindergarten – 12th grade. The first high school graduation was held in 1989 with two graduates.

Construction continued, and in spring 2015, the third floor, with a science lab, music and art rooms, and a multipurpose room, began to be used. God’s grace was evident as all construction was done without incurring a standing debt.

ECA continues true to its vision as an interdenominational Christian school that offers an American education to approximately 300 students in grades pre-kinder to 12th. As ECA continues to grow in number, we pray and hope it can continue to grow in infrastructure.

Mission/Vision

El Camino Academy is a Christ-centered educational community biblically equipping bilingual servant leaders to transform their world.
  • Provide a Bible-centered education primarily in English, using a U.S. curriculum that meets Colombian and U.S. educational requirements
  • Foster spiritual growth within the educational community by promoting vibrant personal relationships with God
  • Influence students and the community through modeling Christ-likeness and discipling intentionally Encourage participation in service and mission opportunities

There are various ways ECA has impacted my life. It provided a job for my mom, a school for me to study in, and now, somewhere for me to continue growing personally and professionally.

Graduating from ECA meant that I was formed and trained to be a bilingual servant-leader, which the Lord allowed me to show throughout my time in Nursing School and my jobs afterwards.

God used ECA and through this school, He showed me how He could use me too. I pray that God continues to use ECA to continually impact the lives of different communities and the world, one life at a time.
