Academic Director

The Academic Director (AD) occupies a unique place in the continuum of academic administrators as the facilitating link among Departments, teachers, staff, students, and school leadership. All activities and roles of the AD are undertaken in furthering the best interests of the students of HAB.

Required education/skills:

  • Master’s degree in Education or related filed with extensive experience in education leadership, administration, curriculum and instruction.
  • Demonstrated skills in developing and implementing schoolwide plans. related to curricula, academic achievement for all children, ensuring that the needs of the academic aspects of students are met.
  • Working knowledge of technology and innovative ideas.
  • Extensive knowledge relating to pedagogy, student learning and assessment.
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently to complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to perform strategic planning.
  • Demonstrate initiative, judgment, and discretion in performing duties.           

General Description & Responsibilities:

  • Accreditation maintenance: Overseeing the completion of reports on time and ensuring that accreditation standards are met.
  • MakerSpace teacher support and program development.
  • Secondary courses documentation oversight, including syllabus review and approval to ensure course quality.
  • Reviewing data on standardized testing, evaluating their effectiveness, and sharing it with staff to inform and improve instruction.
  • Collaborate with principals to ensure new initiatives have buy in, consult with principals regarding implementation of school standards and curriculum.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement educational technologies related to the school’s Learning Management System and web-based educational tools.
  • Research relevant policy changes that affect academic placement of students.
  • Collaborate with principles, school registrar and Academic guidance counselor to ensure accuracy of official grade reports.
  • Coordinate with academic team in developing a school academic budget.
  • Managing school academic staff members.
