Communications Director

The Communications Director will execute and lead all communication initiatives related to Open Schools projects and partners using current and relevant communication standards to communicate stories related to the work conducted throughout the regions serviced by Open Schools. 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Build an Open Schools Worldwide communications team and reach out to the Country Directors and facilitators for key communication strategies.
  • Manage Open Schools Worldwide internal and external communications. Promote a positive public image via dissemination of information to communicate the heart of Open Schools Worldwide and our work, along with the work of our local partners.
  • Create materials such as video, photography and/or interviews.
  • Update Open Schools Worldwide prayer updates, Mailchimp subscribers list and social media through various communication platforms (i.e., Instagram, Facebook, etc.).
  • Communicate stories in a compelling, authentic, and respectful way, always attempting to give agency to those who are being represented, ensuring permission always given.
  • Develop and implement creative and culturally relevant methods to teach and train national partners in utilizing and engaging with communication platforms. Collaboratively work on projects with national staff to enable them to develop knowledge and skills in communicating effectively with a variety of mediums.
  • Foster relationships with national leaders, beneficiaries, advocates, and key stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • At least 1-year Communications experience preferred.
  • At least 2-years’ cross-cultural missions, preferably in areas related to existing Open Schools and TeachBeyond ministries.
  • Professional experience on staff in a faith-based non-profit organization dealing with vulnerable children and adults.
  • Working knowledge of digital tools for day-to-day business, including Outlook email and calendar, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Canva and Mailchimp.
  • Motivated by Open Schools Worldwide and TeachBeyond’s mission and vision of transformational education.

This position is a voluntary/or self-supported position and there is no remuneration unless agreed upon by the Open Schools Executive Director for services rendered.
