EAL Coordinator

The EAL Coordinator will cover the EAL curriculum aligned with standards and school guidelines. He/she is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an instructional program in EAL Department to facilitate active and effective learning experiences for high school students. The successful applicant will have curriculum expertise and strong pedagogical practice to achieve outstanding learning outcomes for our students.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Classroom instructions: Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that promote reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Utilize a variety of instructional materials, resources, and technology to enhance learning experiences.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and administer assessments to evaluate students; progress and understanding of the curriculum. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth.
  • Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration. Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a safe and conducive learning atmosphere.
  • Differentiated Instruction: Differentiate instruction to accommodate mixed grade levels, EAL students, and students with special needs and abilities within the classroom. Provide additional support or challenges to students as needed.
  • Parent and Community Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on students; progress and address any concerns. Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and community members to enhance the overall educational experience.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with educational research, trends, and best practices in EAL. Participate in professional development opportunities to continuously improve teaching skills and strategies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Education, or Bachelors Degree in relevant major subject(s), preferably in English
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Education or equivalent teaching credential with at least 10 weeks’ practicum and ESL / TESOL training required. 
  • Prior experience in teaching middle years or high school, English preferred
  • A high level of English proficiency in spoken and written English required.
