Elementary Special Education Teacher
Duties Include:
- Assess students to determine if a learning disability is present.
- Interact with teachers and parents to determine correct goals for students each year, and monitor these goals throughout the year.
- Interact with teachers in giving them suggestions for how to support students with Research Tried Interventions (RTI’s).
- Lead small groups of students with ELL/Special Education issues in reading, writing, and math. Lead small groups of students with auditory processing and sensory issues.
- Provide feedback to teachers on how to accommodate students within their class.
- Read tests, class material, etc. to students with reading issues on test or quiz days.
- Check in with teachers and parents quarterly or earlier to monitor student progress.
- Attend IEP meetings as asked to do so by ASP team.
- Ensure accommodations are being used for each student with an IEP.
- Be actively involved in improving knowledge concerning special education by participating in EdWeb, seminars, conferences, etc.
- Collaborate with the CRICS Academic Success Program team to best serve the students and teachers.
