High School Bible Teacher

Come and teach High School Bible to a curious-minded, fun-loving, international student body at Sahel Academy.  Guide students as they learn how to study and apply God's word for themselves.

Main Tasks:

  • Teach up to 25 periods per week
  • Provide instruction to facilitate growth in understanding the Bible and in applying it to daily living, while fostering spiritual growth, Christ-like character and a heart of service.
  • Keep track of lessons using Planbook.com
  • Create a positive classroom environment focused on academic growth and excellence as well as spiritual development
  • Relate subject matter to Christian life and Biblical teaching
  • Maintain accurate and timely entry of grades
  • Enjoy and be a part of school life beyond the classroom
  • Attend the beginning of the year orientation and weekly staff meetings
  • Cultivate community and a good working relationship with students, parents, local staff and co-worker

Sahel Academy has been serving the children of mission workers since 1986. We offer an English-speaking, International, Christian Education to roughly 120-130 students in grades K-12 from 15 different countries.

Our vision is for students to be "learners loving God and transforming their world". We believe building the next generation of Christ-followers and world-changers is a critical task in our world today.

Our mission is to "develop students through a holistic education of the highest quality while nurturing a Christ-like character and a heart of service". We believe in using our resources to serve our community with the love of Christ.

Location:

Sahel Acadmey is located in Niamey, Niger. This region of West Africa is known for its ancient and rich history as well as the  many modern day challenges of famine, poverty and political upheaval.  God is at work through ministries like Sahel Academy and the many ministries represented among the students' families such as: medical, agricultural, church development, construction, bible training, translation, aviation, as well as serving marginalized communities.

Local languages include Hausa and Zarma, though much of daily commerce is conducted in French. Sahel offers weekly French language tutoring at no cost.

The school also assists teachers in establishing housing and living arrangements.
