Kindergarten Teacher

The kindergarten teacher will provide the instruction necessary to facilitate positive growth in all students and to ensure the development of their Christ-like character and heart of service. 

Main Tasks:

  • Teach all subjects for one class in such a way as to ensure the positive growth of students. This may include the need to teach special classes such as French, Art, Music and/or Physical Education. The class may be one grade level or two depending on the number of students and availability of teachers.
  • Plan lessons using the Planbook.com program or something similar, ensuring all standards are followed.
  • Ensure the use of the provided curriculum to the best of your ability.
  • Create and maintain a positive classroom environment that is culturally sensitive and focused on growth and excellence.
  • Ensure instruction and assessments are in alignment with the curriculum and mission of the school.
  • Identify, select, and modify instructional methods to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
  • Use a variety of instructional and assessment strategies within the classroom that fully support the curriculum and mission of the school.
  • Regularly review curriculum guides and plan lessons that lead to fulfillment of course priorities and goals.
  • Be intentional with the integration of Biblical truth into all areas of teaching and learning.
  • Implement an effective classroom management program that promotes student learning.
  • Maintain accurate and timely entry of grades.
  • Attend beginning of the year orientation.
  • Attend all staff meetings.
  • Monitor children at play or while they eat as needed.
  • Complete all end of the year duties from the checklist.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings, scheduled in-service, curriculum planning and professional development activities.
  • Perform school-related duties outside the typical school day as requested or assigned by administrators that enhance the ‘student life’ and the mission and vision of the school (eg. Parent-Teacher conferences).
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, and parents and follow the Matthew 18:15-20 principle in resolving conflict with others (found in the Staff Handbook).
