Primary (Elementary) Teacher

We are seeking a committed Christian with a love for people from all cultures and backgrounds, who could join our dynamic staff team at MCSC.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have a strong Christian faith and be an active member of a local church
  • Have a teaching certification or be working towards one
  • Have experience working in a school context
  • Possess well developed interpersonal skills
  • Be committed to ongoing professional development
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills
  • Have a working understanding of teaching from a Christian worldview

Mandatory requirements:

  • Reference from current church minister
  • Willingness to sign and uphold our statement of faith
  • Able to sign our working with children forms and not be prohibited from working with children in any previous employment or volunteer work as demonstrated by an appropriate background check
  • Completion of our application form

Key Tasks: (adapted from the Department for Education England Teachers' Standards)

  • Integrate Christian faith into their professional practice, and equip students to influence their world through biblical thought, action and character.
  • Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge students.
  • Promote good progress and outcomes by students.
  • Demonstrate good subject knowledge and curriculum knowledge of the National Curriculum for England (if not from the UK then prove good subject knowledge of the curriculum standards from the country they trained in).
  • Plan and teach dynamic and well-structured lessons, which integrate the Christian worldview and Biblical teaching. 
  • Adapt teaching to the strengths and differentiate for the needs of all students.
  • Give timely feedback on pupil learning, ensuring pupils receive this through marking, verbal feedback and communication of next steps.
  • Make accurate and productive use of assessment.
  • Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment.
  • Provide communication to parents, both written and verbal, on student progress and well-being

Wider Professional Responsibilities:

  • Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school.
  • Develop effective professional relationships with colleagues, knowing how and when to draw on advice and specialist support.
  • Take responsibility for improving teaching through appropriate professional development, responding to advice and feedback from colleagues
