Secondary Music Teacher
KICS is USA fully accredited K – 12 distinctively North American Christian school, is seeking a secondary music teacher for the academic year 2024 – 2025. Classes may include instrumental music (such as band), music appreciation, and other elective classses as needed.
Qualifications:
- Passion for serving God in the context of education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, Bachelor’s of Fine Arts, Instrumental Music or equivalent
Responsibilities:
- Teach skills and instrumental music (band, orchestra, instrumental ensemble) and music appreciation, harmony, and explorations in music to secondary students.
- Plan a balanced music program and organizes class time so that preparation, rehearsal, and instruction can be accomplished within the allocated time.
- Utilize repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary, that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students.
- Encourage students to develop individual musical skills to the greatest extent possible.
- Cooperate with school leadership in providing musical programs for school related activities and community functions. Prepares at least two public concerts per school year.
- Assess the progress of students on a regular basis and provides frequent feedback to students.
- Recognize potential learning disabilities of students and seeks the assistance of the Student With Interventions team.
- Teach other foundation or elective classes (i.e. guitar, Music in technology, bible, health… as needed)
- Provide detailed plans for substitute teachers including lessons, schedules and expectations regarding classroom organization, procedures, and individual student needs.
- Make minor instrument repairs.
- In collaboration with school leadership, manage budget and submit orders for band program
