Special Education Coordinator
The Special Education Coordinator will help teachers create and implement IEPs for students with special educational needs and work with students and families to ensure their needs are being met.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a mature Christian with a clear testimony
- Bachelor’s degree in special education
Responsibilities:
- Observe students and make recommendations for testing and classroom accommodations
- Create Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) for students with documented needs
- Review and evaluate current IEPs
- Coordinate annual care team meetings with parents and teachers to discuss IEP changes
- Assist teachers with strategies to help students with special learning considerations in the classroom
- Work with elementary IEP students who need extra support in Language Arts or Math
- Make recommendations regarding new applicants to the Admissions Team
- Coordinate accommodations of IEP students (eg readers for tests, priority seating, etc)
- Attend parent teacher conferences of IEP students when needed
The Special Education Coordinator is an integral part of the student affairs team of the school and is constantly interfacing with other members of the team. The Special Education Coordinator reports directly to the Head of School but works closely with the Academic Dean, the counselors, the principals and the teaching staff.
