Escola Betel de Cacine
Betel School is non-profit School that has a focus on social action and the culture of peace. Its objectives are to promote the development of students’ education in the intellectual, spiritual, moral, cultural and physical domains. Today, the school offers classes from pre-school through to Grade 12. The student body is composed mostly of students from local Muslim and Animistic families. Our students come from a number of different ethnic groups with limited, if any, exposure to Portuguese, the language of instruction, before they start school. The school is located in an isolated and impoverished area of Guinea Bissau. Many of the students who attend are supported through private sponsorships from supporters in Brazil, Sweden, Hungary, England and Canada. There are 714 students enrolled for the school year 2021 – 2022.
The school provides daily lunch to students in elementary grades, free medicines, first aid care and health lessons on oral hygiene. There is a library that serves the needs of the students and the community. There is also a student residence for approximately 15 students who live in distant villages and board at the residence during the school week.
Cacine is located in the very south of Guinea Bissau, approximately 270 km from the capital city of Bissau. It is an impoverished and relatively isolated area with few foreigners.
Amano Christian School
Amano Christian School aims to provide a high standard of education in the most densely populated province of Zambia, enabling students to develop their full potential. By teaching from a Biblical worldview all students are encouraged to establish a lasting personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and become responsible members of their community.
Our student body is made up of missionary children, nationals, expatriates and sponsored underprivileged children and orphans. Amano staff members have the opportunity to support mission work within Zambia and the honor of investing in the future generations of Zambia by providing quality education to orphans and underprivileged children. Sharing the good news of Christ with students on a daily basis and living together on campus provides a unique opportunity to grow relationships and encourage students in their daily walk of faith.
Amano Christian School follows the British Cambridge IGCSE curriculum. Our unique Christian Foundation program, which aims at taking students through the Bible and its key messages, is taught throughout Grades 1 to 12. Students at Amano have the opportunity to participate in after school clubs and various other activities such as sports, youth group, and field trips.
Amano follows a year-round school schedule, starting in January and ending in December. We have three terms, each approximately 12 weeks long with a one week half-term break in the middle, and then followed by one month holiday intervals.
